University stopped Costa Mesa to preserve a 4-4 tie in a Pacific Coast League baseball game Tuesday at University High. The game was called after eight innings because of darkness.

University’s Adam Horner came on in the seventh with runners at first and second. After a sacrifice bunt, he struck out the next two batters. Horner struck out five in two innings, including striking out the side in the eighth.

Costa Mesa tied it, 4-4, with two outs in the fifth when third baseman Mike McGuire singled in Dan Hunter and Steven Shores.
