Arraignment was postponed Friday for two gang members who allegedly killed a bystander and injured a rival during a gang battle in Garden Grove four years ago.

Quang Tran, 25, and Huan Nguyen, 26, of Lawndale were being held on $500,000 bail on suspicion of murder, said Garden Grove Police Capt. David Abrecht. Arraignment was postponed until March 16, a court clerk said.

The men, who police say are members of the Oriental Playboys gang, were arrested Wednesday after a score of officers conducted searches at 13 locations in three counties.

The May 1997 shooting erupted at an apartment complex on Westminster Avenue about 9 p.m. when the Oriental Playboys were out for revenge against Viets For Life, police said. Tran and Nguyen’s intended targets were Duc Xuan Vuong and other rivals who were staying inside the complex.
