GOLF
* Joe Inman, who won the SBC Senior Classic the last three years at Wilshire Country Club, will be one of eight players on the Senior PGA Tour entered in a skills competition Tuesday at Valencia Country Club.
Also competing for a purse of $24,000 are Raymond Floyd, Jim Dent, Allen Doyle, Bruce Fleisher, Gil Morgan, Larry Nelson and Bruce Summerhays.
The players will match skills in five types of shots on the 18th hole at Valencia, which will host the SBC Senior Classic next Friday through Sunday. Pro-ams will be played Wednesday and Thursday.

SWIMMING
* Anthony Ervin, an Olympic gold medalist in the 50-meter freestyle, set a meet record in the 50-yard freestyle for California in the Pacific-10 Conference Championships on Thursday at Belmont Plaza in Long Beach.
Ervin, a sophomore from Hart High, finished in 19.30 seconds, breaking the record of 19.36 seconds, set last season by former Cal teammate Bart Kizierowski.
USC junior Joel Everman, a graduate of Notre Dame High, was seventh in the 500 in 4:23.35.
* Senior Lisa Andrade of Cal State Northridge, who recorded top-20 times nationally in the 100 and 200-yard breaststrokes at the Big West Conference championships, has qualified for the NCAA Division I championships.
Andrade is the first Matador to qualify for the meet, scheduled for March 15-17 in New Jersey.
SOCCER
* Jenny Farenbaugh and April Millado of Louisville High and Jill Oakes of Harvard-Westlake were selected to the youth All-American girls’ team, which is comprised of national-caliber players.
The 18-member team will play women’s professional and national teams in Germany, Holland and England.
U.S. team members will be among a pool of players considered for the under-19 national team that will compete in the FIFA World Championships in 2002.
