Love to Get Funding From Epitaph
Rock star Courtney Love, who is suing record conglomerate Universal Music Group to break her record contract, said she will begin writing songs for a new album with funding from Los Angeles punk label Epitaph Records.
Universal sued Love in January of last year after being notified that she had decided to stop recording for the company. Universal is seeking millions of dollars in damages for five undelivered albums. She responded with a countersuit alleging she was coerced into signing an “unconscionable†contract.
A Los Angeles Superior Court judge said Wednesday that Love’s lawsuit can proceed. A Universal spokesman declined to comment on Epitaph’s involvement.
