PYRAMID LAKE--Bass fishing is fair to good and plastic worms are best. Catfish and bluegill action is nearly as good.
Ventura County
LAKE CASITAS--Largemouth bass is fair early and late, as the fish are close to the surface. It’s slow during the day. Trout are biting at 30 feet on Night crawlers and Needlefish. Catfish action has slowed.
LAKE PIRU--Trout fishermen are getting strikes trolling deep with Needlefish and by dropping Power Bait and night crawlers. Bass actioN s fair at the north end and in backs of coves. An 8-pounder was caught on a purple plastic worm. Crappie are active at the east end.
Santa Barbara County

Orange County
ANAHEIM LAKE--Opens July 3 for catfish season.

LAGUNA NIGUEL LAKE--Catfish are biting on the usual baits. Fishing is good lake-wide but best at mid-lake. An 18-pounder caught on shrimp tops the list.
SANTA ANA RIVER LAKES--Closes Monday. Catfish action is fair.
San Bernardino County
BIG BEAR LAKE--Trout fishing has slowed and very few limits were reported. Night crawler-flasher combos are working best.
GREEN VALLEY LAKE--The trout are deep and boaters using Power Bait are doing best. Fishing is slow to fair overall.
JESS RANCH LAKES--Trout fishing is good for pan-size fish on Power Bait, and catfish action is slow to fair.
Riverside County
CORONA LAKE--Catfish action is going strong as limits are the rule in evening hours. A 12-8 tops the list. Garlic-scented mackerel works best.
LAKE PERRIS--Bluegill are biting best, primarily on crickets at the marina and east end. Trout are still being caught on night crawlers at the dam. Bass fishing is slow, but they’re being caught at the island and marina. Some catfish.
LAKE SKINNER--Largemouth bass and catfish are willing takers of standard baits and lures. An 8-4 bass was caught on a night crawler at the south shore. Striped bass are biting at the inlet, on the surface early and deep during the day. The bluegill bite is fair.
San Diego County
LAKE CUYAMACA--A 7-4 trout was caught on a Panther Martin but the trout bite has slowed. The bass bite is fair the the crappie bite is exceptional.

SAN DIEGO CITY LAKES--Bluegill are very active at Lower Otay and San Vicente. Bass fishing is fair at those lakes and at Sutherland and El Capitan. Catfish action is fair at Hodges.
Eastern Sierra
BISHOP AREA--A 10-9 Alpers rainbow was caught on a Mepps lure in the South Fork of Bishop Creek. Creek fishing is good and the high lakes are fair to good. A 6-11 rainbow was caught on a Stinger lure in South Lake.
MAMMOTH LAKES AREA--Crowley Lake has had an algae bloom but trout fishing has been good at Alligator Point and Sandy Point. Perch are biting on mini-jigs in McGee Bay. Convict Lake is only fair. The basin lakes, Mamie, Mary, Twin and George are fair to good and producing some plump rainbow trout.
JUNE LAKE LOOP--Morning has been best at all lakes, as the fish are going deep during the day. Trollers and bait fishermen are doing well for trout to about four pounds, using Rapalas, Needlefish, night crawlers and Power Bait. Rush Creek is fair on salmon eggs and small spinners.
BRIDGEPORT AREA--Virginia Lakes are very productive for mostly pan-size fish biting on standard lures and baits. Lots of limits. The best bet for quality fish is Bridgeport Reservoir, where inflated night crawlers are enticing trout averaging 2-3 pounds and some a bit larger. Twin Lakes are fair. The East Walker River flows have been fluctuating, hampering the effort. The West Walker is good on most baits, lures and flies.
