A carjacking suspect led police on a chase that ended when the 22-year-old suspect crashed in Oxnard and was thrown from the vehicle’s window, authorities said Monday.

Newspaper deliveryman Robert Solway of Simi Valley was putting papers in a rack outside a Newbury Park restaurant about 5 a.m. Sunday when a man jumped into his silver Kia Sportage. Solway, 42, confronted the man but was shoved aside and his car was taken, Ventura County sheriff’s deputies said.

Deputy Terry Hughes said Albert Castillo of Oxnard was chased for 30 minutes through Camarillo and Oxnard. As he sped through Oxnard’s La Colonia neighborhood, the car rolled over three times, and he was ejected, Hughes said.

Castillo was treated for minor injuries at Ventura County Medical Center and booked on suspicion of carjacking and felony evading arrest.
