From the Model T to the New SUV

Your article on stretch limousines (“Checking In With the Limo Crowd,†May 29) reminded me of my father’s experience in 1912. He was graduating from a small high school in Monroe County, Ohio, down the Ohio River from Steubenville. He and a classmate rented a horse-drawn surrey so they could squire their girlfriends to graduation in style. By 1912, the Model T was popular, so I suppose at least one of his classmates rode to graduation in the 1912 version of an Explorer SUV, and yes, with Firestone tires.BOB KOCHER Thousand Oaks
