Ifilm to Expand Site Focus to General Movies
Hollywood-based Ifilm has changed its focus again, expanding its Web site from short films online to movies in general.
The switch aims to broaden the audience for Ifilm, a privately held company whose backers include Yahoo Inc., Sony Pictures Digital Entertainment and former Microsoft Corp. co-founder Paul Allen. Although it draws more viewers than other sites dedicated to online films, Ifilm attracts far fewer visitors than the top sites for feature films, such as IMDB.com, Mr. Showbiz and Hollywood.com, according to the Jupiter Media Metrix research firm.
The broader focus also means more potential advertising and sponsorship revenue for the company at a time when Internet advertising is in a prolonged slump.
