Iverson Earns Hollywood Star

In a game of unlikely twists that could turn these NBA Finals into an unexpected treat, Allen Iverson scored 48 points, including seven in a row late in overtime, to lead the Philadelphia 76ers to a 107-101 victory Wednesday night over the Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center.
A series that began with thoughts of a Lakers sweep instead opened with Iverson sweeping the 76ers to an overtime shocker.
Having previously scored the final 15 points of the first half, Iverson brought his scoring out of hibernation in time to end the Lakers’ 11-0 playoff roll and snap a 19-game L.A. winning streak.
His scoring touch lost late in the second half--he went 19 minutes, 7 seconds without a point during one span--Iverson closed 18 of 41.
Not even Lakers center Shaquille O’Neal, with 44 points and 20 rebounds, could overcome the Iverson’s effort.
“We knew we could win,†Iverson said. “We knew we could win even before we got here.â€
