Society Needs Revenge Against McVeigh

Re “Justice Without Exceptions,” editorial, June 1: I think there is a time when the law must be practical. It seems to be a great foolishness to speak of what is essentially “further justice” for an admitted terrorist whose act resulted in the deaths of hundreds. Timothy McVeigh has confessed to the crime. Why are further acts required by society to be just?
Not only was evidence presented in court that indicated his guilt, but after conviction, his guilt was further established by his own confession. It is time that we put aside our fear and do what is just for the victims. To be whole again, society needs its revenge. It is only just that we apply the tenets of our Judeo-Christian morality and take our eye and our tooth.

Do McVeigh’s attorneys really believe a delay will mitigate his sentence or do they just want to run their meter at taxpayer expense?
