Shop Lumens to See the Light

If you’ve bought light bulbs lately, you probably noticed that plain old incandescent bulbs are in the minority. Today, compact fluorescent bulbs are a popular alternative because they last longer and produce more light. Until recently, consumers have been used to buying a particular wattage bulb, say 60, 75 or 100 watts. But that measure really doesn’t apply for the new super-efficient bulbs. Instead you should start looking at the number of lumens a bulb provides. Lumens are a measure of light. The more lumens you get with fewer watts is a winner.--Associated Press
