Irvine’s LifeMasters Sued Over Patents
Bloomberg News
A New Jersey maker of information systems to help doctors treat heart disease and diabetes filed a patent-infringement lawsuit Tuesday against LifeMasters Supported SelfCare Inc. in Irvine.
Q-Med Inc. in Laurence Harbor contends in its federal lawsuit, filed in Newark, that LifeMasters infringed on its patent for a computer system that provides individual patient prognosis and treatment recommendations.
Q-Med also alleges that LifeMasters, a health care information company, made false and defamatory statements about Q-Med’s system. The suit asks a judge to order an end to the alleged infringement and defamation, and seeks unspecified monetary damages.
A spokesman for closely held LifeMasters declined to comment on the lawsuit.
