Nobodies? Hardly

After reading Liz Smith’s column (“So, Who Are These People?,� July 3), I think she should bone up not only on her reading but also her listening and TV viewing.

Has she never heard Ira Glass on public radio’s “This American Life� or the comedian Chris Rock with his funny voice, or what about “The Daily Show’s� Jon Stewart, or jazz vocalist Cassandra Wilson? Tom Ford is equally well known for his work with Gucci and YSL.

Come on!

How sad that we’ve reached a point where a nationally syndicated columnist is willing to proclaim her cultural illiteracy in print.

Perhaps if Smith removed her lips from the derrieres of film and theater “celebrities� for five minutes, she might recognize the other names on Time’s “America’s Best� list.
