Loyola Marymount Opens Up on Northridge in 7-3 Victory
Robert Hirsh, from Crespi High, had two hits and Tommy Perez, from Burroughs, had two runs batted in to help Loyola Marymount defeat Cal State Northridge, 7-3, in its baseball opener Tuesday at Loyola Marymount.
Left-hander Craig Mosher (0-2) of Northridge, a transfer from Florida, struggled for the second consecutive outing, giving up six runs and seven hits in 4 1/3 innings.
First baseman Tim Arroyo went four for four for Northridge (3-2). J.T. Stotts and Robert Smith each had two hits.
Jeff Walker went three for three and hit a solo home run for Loyola Marymount.

Buena 5, San Marcos 0--Natalie Sanderson and Ashleigh Garmon each had a goal and an assist as the Bulldogs (20-1-2, 4-0-1) became the first team in the region to win 20 games this season in a Channel League game at San Marcos.
Camarillo 3, Channel Islands 0--Danielle Mier scored two goals in a Pacific View League game at Camarillo (10-4-2, 4-1-1).
Channel Islands is 2-7-1, 0-5.
Oak Park 3, Bishop Diego 2--Allison Bernstein had a goal and an assist as the Eagles (14-6, 6-0) scored three second-half goals in a Tri-Valley League game at Bishop Diego (6-5-3, 1-4).
Canyon 4, Burbank 0--Jaime Rendich scored her 16th goal of the season five minutes into the game to send the Cowboys on their way to victory in a Foothill League match at Burbank.
Canyon (17-1-2, 5-1-2) is 5-0-2 since a 4-1 loss to Valencia in its league opener.
BOYS’ SOCCER
Canyon 3, Burbank 2--Cameron Robinson scored just before time expired to give the Cowboys a come-from-behind victory in a Foothill League game at Canyon.
Burbank (10-6-1, 3-4) led, 2-0, at halftime.
Hart 2, Valencia 0--Mike Caso scored twice in a Foothill League game at Hart (14-7-3, 6-2).
Valencia is 10-4, 1-4-2.
Sylmar 4, Kennedy 0--Sophomore Ernesto Lopez scored two goals in his varsity debut for the Spartans (9-8-3, 3-3) in a Valley Mission League game at Sylmar.
Montclair Prep 5, Pacific Hills 3--Junior Aaron Croutch had his fifth hat trick of the season for the victorious Mounties (3-2 in league) in a Delphic League game at Balboa Park.
