* LOYOLA MARYMOUNT (5-11, 1-2) at PEPPERDINE (11-5, 3-0), 7, Fox Sports Net 2, KXLU-FM (88.9)--Pepperdine defeated the Lions, 81-65, in a West Coast Conference game Wednesday, thanks to a 40-point effort by junior guard Brandon Armstrong. Loyola Marymount surprised San Diego in a WCC opener, but slipped defensively and lost its last two games.

Mike Bresnahan previously covered the Lakers for the Los Angeles Times. He started the beat in 2004, a month after Shaquille O’Neal was traded, and covered several seasons of mediocrity before the Lakers won back-to-back championships in 2009 and 2010.
