Road Work to Block California 33 Lanes
Caltrans will block northbound and southbound lanes on California 33 during the next few weeks as workers restripe the road.
The change will shift lanes 1 foot farther away from the median, allowing paving to begin to replace the old metal-and-wood median with a safer concrete barrier.
The restriping, between West Main Street and Crooked Palm Road, will leave no shoulders in the construction zone. Signs have been posted to alert motorists to approach with caution.
Work crews will operate weekdays 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the southbound side, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the northbound side. No weekend work is scheduled, Caltrans officials said.
When completed, the road will have wider, paved medians with a concrete center divider that is safer, improves visibility and requires less maintenance, officials said.
The project should be finished by spring, officials said.
