Leukemia & Lymphoma Society needs survivors--or family members of survivors--of blood-related cancers (leukemia, Hodgkin’s disease, lymphoma, myeloma) to volunteer in the First Connection program. The program provides emotional support to newly diagnosed patients. Training will be provided March 19 in West Los Angeles. Information: Gail Sperling, (310) 348-5721, Ext. 240.

* Sexual Assault Crisis Agency in Long Beach needs volunteers to become crisis counselors/advocates for its 24-hour hotline. Training, which begins March 2, is held over three weekends. Information: (562) 494-5046.

* Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills needs volunteers to assist at the information desk, in patient-care areas and to provide clerical assistance. A 100-hour, six-month commitment is required. Information: (818) 365-8051, Ext. 4613.

* Venice Family Clinic needs volunteers to give out books to young patients as part of its pediatric literacy program. Volunteers who are fluent in American Sign Language are also needed to assist the medical staff. Information: (310) 664-7621.
