Blue Line Safety
* With all of the MTA’s talk about improving safety on its Blue Line, I have to comment on a situation I witnessed at the Blue Line Artesia station recently. As my train pulled into the station a freight train pulled up and stopped alongside the commuter train, blocking access to and from the platform. It did not take long for a considerable crowd to gather on both sides of the gates. After about 10 minutes many gave up and began crawling over, under and between the cars of the freight train.
This is a disaster waiting to happen. Surely the MTA can provide better access to the station platforms.
