Measure O Politics

Re “Measure O Lawyers Battle Over Payment,” Feb. 6.
Measure O would have diverted Ventura County’s expected $260-million tobacco settlement funds chiefly to Community Memorial Hospital.
The measure was defeated by more than two-thirds of the voters because of the effective actions of a citizens’ coalition.
Now, Community Memorial is suing the five signers of the ballot arguments against the measure, who were members of the Coalition Against Measure O.
Is the purpose to intimidate future potential citizens’ groups, so that Community Memorial could be more free to take further future action against the county without citizen opposition?
