Any time a team puts together a 10-game winning streak, it’s noteworthy.
But the current run by the Oxnard boys’ team (20-3), top-ranked in the region by The Times, has been doubly impressive because the Yellowjackets have won their 10 games by an average of 24.4 points.
The Yellowjackets’ closest game was a 76-65 victory over Rio Mesa two weeks ago.

Buena (14-9, 3-2) is in the thick of the Channel League boys’ race entering tonight’s game against visiting San Marcos, but the Bulldogs have been inconsistent this season.
A three-point half against Washington in the Beverly Hills tournament, a 77-50 loss to Loyola on Dec. 15 and a 68-47 drubbing by Oxnard on Wednesday are all examples of Buena’s inconsistency.
The loss to Oxnard--which wasn’t as close as the final score indicated--was particularly frustrating to Coach Glen Hannah because it came after victories over Santa Barbara and Ventura, and because the Bulldogs were within three points of Oxnard late in the fourth quarter of a 70-58 loss on Jan. 10.
“We seem to get on a little roll where we start to play pretty well and then we come out and really stink,” Hannah said.
