Government, Guerrillas Return to Peace Talks

The Colombian government and the country’s largest guerrilla force, the Marxist-inspired FARC, agreed to resume peace talks in January after more than two months of deadlock.
“We have agreed to meet at the negotiating table on Jan. 3 and Jan. 4, and we hope we can push forward the peace process,” Camilo Gomez, the government’s top peace negotiator said.
Talks between the Pastrana administration and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia have been stalled since a mid-October dispute over the rebel-controlled demilitarized zone.
