Theater’s Marquee Lit Up Again After 30 Years

For the first time in 30 years, the Fox Theatre’s marquee was illuminated this week.
Oakland officials put $650,000 into bringing the historic downtown theater back to life, part of Mayor Jerry Brown’s campaign to revitalize downtown Oakland.
The theater opened in 1928 and for decades hosted live performances by actors and musicians.
Erma DeLucchi of Piedmont saved the building from demolition when she bought it at auction.
