Shrinking Surplus

Re “White House Sees Shrinking Budget Surplus,” Aug. 23: We support President Bush--and disagree with the Democrats’ scare tactics relative to the tax cut and budget. The budget surplus, money above and beyond what is required to run the government, should be zero to indicate no additional spending is necessary or allowed. Shrinking the budget surplus is an excellent way to keep the tax-and-spend Democrats and other liberals from spending money they should not use for their own purposes. Excellent private companies operate within their operating budgets. Poor corporations do not operate within their budgets, waste money and go bankrupt. Bush is showing the federal government how to operate within its budget and operate like an excellent business.
