Immigrant Amnesty

Your Aug. 12 interview with Mexico’s Foreign Minister Jorge Castaneda (Opinion) substantiates that President Bush has released the Fox into the henhouse. Mexico’s President Vicente Fox, the former front man to sell sugar water to poor Mexicans, now cons Bush to permit the U.S. to be the safety valve for the overflowing, undereducated, poor masses of Mexico that the Mexican government has suppressed for decades.
Have we not learned the lessons of history, when the last “amnesty” was followed by an unprecedented flow of illegal Mexicans across the border to be supported by the U.S. taxpayer with medical care, construction jobs (not low-paying menial labor) and education?
