The redesigned 2002 ES 300 sedan--stablemate to the sporty, rear-wheel-drive IS 300--is the second part of Lexus’ two-car strategy for the entry-level luxury segment.

The front-wheel-drive ES, due in dealerships Oct. 1, delivers 210 horsepower using a punched-up version of the 3.0-liter V-6 that also will power the 2002 Toyota Camry.

Features include side-curtain air bags, anti-lock brakes, five-speed automatic, seven-speaker sound system, automatic climate control and 16-inch wheels.

Pricing hasn’t been announced but should start in the “low†$30,000s, Lexus says.
