Man Killed as Car Veers Off PCH Into Sea
An Oxnard man was killed Saturday when his car left Pacific Coast Highway and careened into the ocean near Point Mugu State Park, authorities said.
The crash occurred about 7:30 p.m. in a rocky area just north of Sycamore Canyon Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. The impact ejected the man into the surf and he died instantly, authorities said.
The man’s name was not released pending notification of his family.
Emergency crews from the Coast Guard, Ventura County Fire Department, state Parks Department and CHP searched the cliffs around the crash site and the water for a second possible victim.
Oxnard Police officers were also trying to determine whether anyone was traveling with the victim.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
