Updating her 1999 album after retrieving the rights from Sony, the husky-voiced auteur of the durable adult-contemporary hit “As I Lay Me Down” includes in this package a bonus disc of previously unreleased songs, alternate versions, demos, and videos. Maybe that’s a bit too much insight into the quirky multi-instrumentalist, but her atmospheric, often bluntly passionate work-falling somewhere between Paul Simon’s percussive, sweeping pop and Tori Amos’ poetic-profane confessions-is uniquely personal, if not always memorable. Hawkins plays the House of Blues on Friday.
