San Antonio Is Best in the West
David Robinson had 25 points, 12 rebounds and seven blocks at San Antonio as the Spurs routed the Denver Nuggets, 111-95, Saturday night to clinch homecourt advantage throughout the Western Conference playoffs.
The Spurs, who have won six of seven games, improved the NBA’s best record to 57-23 and ended Denver’s three-game winning streak.
The Nuggets, playing without Antonio McDyess and Nick Van Exel because of injuries, managed to hold Tim Duncan to 11 points.
Milwaukee 112, Toronto 86--Ray Allen scored 31 points and reserve Lindsey Hunter added 22 at Milwaukee. The Bucks, who won the Central Division, assured themselves of homecourt advantage over Miami should both teams advance past the first round of the playoffs.
Houston 100, Vancouver 95--In a fitting end to what was probably their final game in Vancouver, the Grizzlies blew a 19-point second-half lead before 18,571. Shandon Anderson scored 19 points and was one of five Rocket starters in double figures. The Grizzlies failed to record a franchise-best 23rd victory.
Detroit 129, Atlanta 124--Jerry Stackhouse scored 37 points and Corliss Williamson added 23 as the Pistons extended their winning streak to a season-high four games in an overtime victory at Atlanta.
Around the League
Milwaukee put Tim Thomas (shoulder) on the injured list for the remainder of the regular season and activated forward Jerome Kersey. Thomas will be eligible to return for the playoffs.
