Courtroom Outburst

* Re “Man, Youth Clash at His Murder Sentencing,” April 10: To Richard Poynton, the teen whose outburst rocked the courtroom where his father was sentenced to death for the murder of his wife, the boy’s mother: I applaud your reaction because it came from your heart and gave your mother a voice that has been silenced. It also proved that you have compassion and that you’re not like your father, whose callous actions in and out of the courtroom speak volumes.

I hope you and your brother are now able to put this wretched man behind you with the knowledge that he is an anomaly, that there are good people in this world, like the aunt who now cares for you, and many others who don’t have the privilege of knowing you but wish you peace and better times ahead.
