Scott Akamine
Savanna, Baseball
Akamine, a senior pitcher, remained on the mound despite being hampered by a pulled hamstring suffered in the fourth inning. He went on to carry the Rebels to a decisive
7-3 victory over Valencia in an Orange
League
game on Friday. Akamine dominated, striking out 15 and allowing only two earned runs. The victory improved his record to 3-2 and pulled Savanna into a three-way tie for second place in league.

Tustin, Track and Field
He cleared 6-11 1/2 in the high jump against Santa Ana Thursday, the best by a county athlete since 1997.

Servite, Tennis
He defeated previously undefeated Jeffrey Das of Troy to help the unbeaten Friars upset the third-ranked Warriors.
Courtney Cashion
Irvine, Swimming
Cashion, a freshman, helped the Vaqueros to their sixth consecutive title at the Southern Section Relays. She anchored the winning 300-yard freestyle relay team that broke a 12-year meet record, winning in 2:29.99. In the 400 freestyle, she led off with a county-best leg of 51.50 as the Vaqueros broke their own meet record by nearly three seconds. In the 200 medley, she anchored a squad that broke an 18-year meet record in 1:47.31.

San Clemente, Swimming
She anchored the 200 butterfly relay team that handed Irvine its only loss at the Southern Section Relays.
* Brittany Crouch
Woodbridge, Softball
She pitched a three-hitter, tripled and scored three runs as Woodbridge upset No. 6 Laguna Hills, 5-1.
