The City Council has extended the expiration date of merchant parking permits for the 8th Street and pier lots to Oct. 31 in order to study proposed fee increases.
At a council meeting this month, city staff presented a citywide parking plan that includes raising the $40 annual fee to $200. Metered parking on Main Street is also being considered. A public hearing will be held in October, officials said.
