FAST FACTS
* Mika Hakkinen made his F1 debut in the last U.S. Grand Prix held in 1991. Of the current drivers only Hakkinen, Jean Alesi and Johnny Herbert have previously raced F1 in the U.S.
* The new road course is only one tenth of a mile longer than the famous 2.5-mile oval circuit.
* Today’s race will be the 27th F1 World Championship-qualifying U.S. Grand Prix.
* The most recent F1 event to take place on a part-road course, part-oval circuit was the non-championship 1971 Questor Grand Prix run at the now defunct Ontario Motor Speedway.
* McLarens have won the last four U.S. Grand Prix races.
