Two armed men in ski masks, coats and gloves held up a South Coast Plaza jewelry store late Friday, fleeing with several watches, Costa Mesa police said.
No shots were fired, and nobody was injured in the robbery, which happened about 9 p.m. in the Torneau jewelry store at 3333 Bristol St., police said.
The gunmen, one of whom had what appeared to be an assault rifle, ordered the staff and customers to the floor, then made an employee open a display case, authorities said.
Witnesses said the pair then fled the store to a waiting green Honda Accord and drove north on Bear Street.
The value of the goods taken will not be known until the store can complete an inventory to determine what is missing, authorities said.
Investigators asked that anyone with information about the incident call Costa Mesa police at (714) 754-5281.
