LOS ANGELES — A man trying to cross the Pomona Freeway was killed Thursday night after being hit by several cars in the Boyle Heights area, authorities said.
The man, whose identity had not been released Friday, was trying to get from the south shoulder of the freeway to the center divider when he was hit about 11:15 p.m. just east of Lorena Street, said California Highway Patrol Officer Frank Sansone. The man was running when he was struck by a Chevy Astro van, Sansone said.
The man struck and bounced off the center divider before landing in the fast lane, where he was struck by several other vehicles, Sansone said. The man died at the scene.
Two lanes of the freeway were closed until about 12:30 a.m.
