Special Pros and a Super Piano Sale
Here are a few favorite services recommended by me, my staff, family and friends.
* Mechanic Rip-Off Protection is one we use when we need an honest, unbiased appraisal of a car, whether we’re thinking about buying, selling or keeping one.

Bargains--In a Bargains column that appeared in Valley Life on Sept. 1, The Times gave an incorrect phone number for Mechanic Rip-Off Protection. The correct number is (310) 559-2629.
After owner Jackie Winters gave my 1995 Honda Accord a thorough inspection, I decided to keep it . . . a big money-saver right there. Winters does on-site inspections, meaning he will go to wherever the car is and check out the 69 items on his list. Then he road-tests the car and gives you the findings. All this for $50. Although he spent 27 years as a mechanic, Winters does not own a repair shop. (310) 319-9173.
* Not many interior decorators are willing to take on small jobs, but Terry Adams is. With 25 years in the field, she has found a few fundamentals to make a home beautiful: Create balance, arrange traffic patterns and use correct lighting. Adams says this can be accomplished in a couple of hours using items you already own.
“Together, we will be able to find the room’s focal point, arrange conversation areas, use your artwork effectively, incorporate heirlooms, choose window treatments and colors, suggest floor coverings and create harmony,†she said.
Not bad for $100 an hour. This could save you some costly errors. Terry Adams Interiors, (310) 319-9173.
* A service I’ve been using for more than 10 years utilizes the magic fingers of Beth Mackrille, masseuse extraordinaire and chiropractor. When Mackrille works on a tired, aching body, it’s a bit of heaven. And she will go to your home. At $45 for an hour’s massage (and correction, if you wish), this is a bargain. Call (323) 465-9514 for an appointment.
