NASCAR, with headquarters in Daytona Beach, Fla., and offices in New York and Charlotte, N.C., is opening a West Coast office in Century City. An announcement will be made today in Daytona Beach.
Paul Brooks, vice president of broadcasting for the stock car racing organization, will open the office Dec. 1. It will focus on managing NASCAR’s broadcast and ancillary rights, including the Internet and other technology opportunities, but will also include marketing, licensing, sales and public relations functions.
“Los Angeles is a very important market for us, especially from a broadcasting standpoint,” said Brooks. “Our offices in New York and Charlotte have proven very beneficial, and we expect the same for our West Coast presence.”
Since joining NASCAR in 1993, Brooks has been actively involved in all aspects of the new $2.4-billion TV contract with NBC, Turner, Fox and FX that begins next year. He has also helped develop and launch NASCAR online and the organization’s long-term broadcast and Internet strategy.
His most recent assignment was serving in the office of President Bill France, working with the senior management team.
