A free bicycle rodeo for children ages 7 and older will be presented by the Santa Paula Community Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
The event consists of a safety inspection course to alert young bicyclists to road hazards. Participants will receive free identification cards and prizes.
“The goal is basically to provide safety information about bicycle riding and that includes maintenance for your bicycles,” said Ed Mount, recreation supervisor for the city of Santa Paula.
“There are 12 to 15 stations, and the kids ride to each station and learn about various things, like wearing a helmet or tire pressure.”
The Santa Paula Optimist Club is co-sponsoring the event with the city and Smead Insurance.
Santa Paula Community Center is at 530 W. Main St.. For more information, call 933-4226.
