7 TONIGHT WESTERN HIGH
Western was averaging 41 points per game last season when it ran into a brick wall in Valencia’s defense and lost, 35-7. The Pioneers are averaging just under 39 per game, but their offense appears even more unstoppable. Running backs David Gober, Rodney Eason and Chris Jackson and quarterback Mike Hicks have rushed for a combined 1,469 yards in the Pioneers’ wing-T offense, with Gober and Eason already over the 500-yard mark. Grant Dhenin has been the biggest surprise for Valencia, beating out returning all-leaguer Scott Parker as featured running back.
