Family Herded Into Room, Robbed

At least three men broke into a Hacienda Heights home late Sunday night, confining the family of five to a room in the house while they stole an undetermined amount of money and jewelry, authorities said.
The suspects entered the home in the 2500 block of Anvil Tree Lane before midnight Sunday through an open door. They were described as wearing ski masks and carrying two handguns and a knife, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials said.
They said early evidence indicated the robbery was not random. Sgt. Dean Scoville of the Sheriff’s Industry Station said the neighborhood is generally very quiet and free of crime.
Family members said they did not see or hear a vehicle.
Officer Edward Ramirez, of the sheriff’s office headquarters, said Monday that no suspects were in custody.
