Sheriff’s Dept. to Offer Horse Academy

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department will hold its fifth annual Citizens Horse Academy at the Ventura County Fairgrounds on Oct. 22 to demonstrate how it trains police horses.
An entry fee of $50 covers one horse and rider to learn sensory training, formation riding, ground manners and more. The event will also include a tri-tip barbecue and door prizes. Participants must register by Sunday.
Check-in time is 7:30 a.m., and classes will run from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Participants must be 18 or older, and boots and a helmet are required. For information, call 388-5132.
