Student a Finalist for Academic Honor

Ventura High School senior Amy Escobar has been selected as a finalist in the National Hispanic Recognition Program.
Escobar is one of 3,000 students chosen as finalists out of 175,000 eligible students nationwide.
The program highlights Latino students who have a strong academic record and who are well prepared for college.
The students are listed in a magazine sent to hundreds of colleges and universities, which may increase their chances for acceptance and scholarships.
Students qualify based on their scores on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test.
The finalists are the 3,000 highest-scoring students.
Escobar is applying to Stanford University, UC San Diego and Claremont McKenna College.
