Biolase Gets Patent for Dental Laser

Biolase Technology Inc. said it received a U.S. patent for its Waterlase technology used in dentistry.
The patent covers the use of laser technology with water in cutting dental hard tissue, including enamel, and dental root material, the San Clemente company said in a press release.
Biolase, which had 1999 sales of $7 million, is a manufacturer of medical and dental lasers.
The company’s stock edged up 6 cents a share to $2.13 in Nasdaq trading.
