In Division IV:
Ventura 38, Simi Valley Royal 21--Tyler Ebell ran for 354 yards and four touchdown carries and broke the Southern Section single-season rushing record in leading the Cougars into the semifinals.
Ebell pushed his total to 3,899 yards, breaking the one-year old mark of 3,586 by Jermaine Marshall of Malibu Kilpatrick.
In Division XI:
L.A. Cathedral 20, Oak Park 17--Cathedral (11-0) used a ball-control attack to gain 293 yards rushing and eat up the clock.
Running back Fernando Castro had 144 yards in 22 carries and Nick Alcantar scored twice.
The Phantoms took the lead for good on Alcantar’s nine-yard run with 5:19 left in the third quarter.
Alcantar’s second score, a two-yard run, gave the Phantoms a 20-10 lead with 7:38 to play.
Oak Park scored on a six-yard option pass from Brendon Anderson to quarterback Josh Walker to pull within 20-17 with 3:27 remaining.
