Two Area Teams Are Seeded No. 1
Dream volleyball seasons continue for Harvard-Westlake and La Reina highs.
Two other teams from the region received morale boosts, too.
Harvard-Westlake received the top seeding in the Southern Regional of the state Division III playoffs. La Reina received the top seeding in Division IV.
Harvard-Westlake (22-2), which won its fourth Southern Section title in six seasons, hosts Tollhouse Sierra (9-7) in a first-round match tonight at 7.
La Reina (26-0), which won its first Southern Section title, hosts San Diego Horizon (7-19) in another first-round match tonight.
La Canada (20-3) received a decent draw in Division III. The Spartans must travel to Yosemite (18-8), but have a shot at advancing to the semifinals.
Sylmar (17-0) also got some help. The Spartans were seeded lower than Long Beach Poly (34-2), but host Poly in a Division I match.
Sylmar, which won its first City Section title, will host the match because of a higher “host priority seeding,†which takes into account attendance figures, among other criteria.
