The Nature Conservancy at the Irvine Co. Open Space Reserve is planning free guided hikes, mountain bike and equestrian rides next week. A guided two-mile wilderness hike will begin at 9 a.m. Dec. 2 near Limestone Canyon with a visit to the “Sinks,” Orange County’s mini-grand canyon.
More ambitious hikers can take part in a free guided eight-mile hike through Limestone Canyon and along Lomas Ridge, beginning at 7:30 a.m.
The reserve has more than 17,000 acres of wilderness in Limestone and Emerald canyons. Free guided tours are scheduled on a regular basis. Reservations are required. Information: (714) 832-7478.
