Controlled Burn Scheduled Today

If you see dark smoke billowing up from Steckel Park near Santa Paula today, the Ventura County Fire Department promises it will have everything under control.
As part of an ongoing effort to curb the chances for future brush fires in the dry hills and agricultural plains of the county, crews will ignite a controlled burn about 8 a.m. on 958 acres just north of Santa Paula.
