City officials are planning to plant 350 trees along Whittier and Beach boulevards as part of a seven-year capital improvement program.
The City Council gave staff authorization to apply for $165,000 in grant funds from the state to help finance the planting.
The proposal, due Friday, would include the cost of cutting existing sidewalks and purchasing and planting trees every 100 feet along the boulevards. Also included in the project would be the planting of trees every 50 feet along the bare parkways on Beach Boulevard adjacent to residential areas.
