The San Clemente Animal Shelter needs volunteers to answer phones and monitor animal-related issues, passing these on to the animal control officers.
The center, at 535 Avenida Fabricante, processes licenses and adoptions and handles public relations.
Volunteers also exercise and play with the animals.
The shelter relies on membership fees and donations from supporters. Volunteer orientation meetings are from 9 to 10:30 a.m. the first Saturday of each month. Information: (949) 492-1617.
