Royal 14, Carpinteria 2--Ramiro Saldain and Chris Andelin each scored three goals for the Highlanders (25-3) in a first-round game at Rancho Simi Community Park.
Saldain had two assists and Andelin had one, while Tom Onyshko made seven saves and held Carpinteria scoreless playing the first three quarters. Chris Bauer had three saves in relief of Onyshko.
Santa Barbara 13, Newbury Park 7--Jeremiah Miranda and Andy Lever each scored twice but the Panthers fell in a first-round match at Carpinteria Pool.
Santa Barbara (21-9) took an 8-3 halftime lead behind two first-quarter goals by Brian Snyder and three goals in the second quarter by Ryan Caswell.
Caswell finished with six goals and Snyder had three.
Snyder also had nine steals and four assists, and Tyler Wilson had four steals for Santa Barbara.
Righetti 19, Calabasas 5--Gene Broussard scored three goals and Marshall Cole had two but the Coyotes (12-13) lost to the two-time defending division champions in a first-round match at Paul Nelson Pool in Santa Maria.
Kevin Bumgartner and Mark Nielsen each had three goals for Righetti (14-13).
