A woman died and a young child was hospitalized Saturday after the two were pulled from the deep end of an Aliso Viejo community pool.
Paramedics responded to a 12:10 p.m. call at an apartment complex after the two were found by a passerby, said Orange County Sheriff’s Investigator Dan Stack.
The girl, thought to be 3 to 5 years old, was taken to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo. The woman, believed to be in her mid- to late 20s, was transported to Saddleback Memorial Medical Center in Laguna Hills, where she was pronounced dead, hospital authorities said.
Kenny King, 45, a resident of the complex, pulled the two out, Orange County Fire Capt. Paul Hunter said, adding that they were in full cardiac arrest. Having trouble identifying the victims, police called in a bloodhound unit to track where they came from.
